Astria Dusknet-2: Devnet Regenesis

Dusknet marked the first time developers could permissionlessly deploy rollups to a remote shared sequencer network.

We are committed to making deploying a rollup as easy as deploying a smart contract, and to that end, we are excited to announce that we have successfully completed a network regenesis and upgrade to Dusknet-2.

Dusknet-2 contains the following improvements:

  • Dusknet-2 runs as a network with 3 block producing sequencer nodes. Using multiple block producing nodes is a significant technical step towards our upcoming decentralized testnet which will be run by multiple external validators.

  • Migration from a private Celestia network to Celestia's public Mocha Testnet. By posting data to a public Celestia network developers can have visibility into the data posted via a Celestia block explorer like Celenium.

  • All rollups deployed on Astria's shared sequencer now include a Celestia light node. Celestia is a modular data availability network that securely scales with the number of users. By including a Celestia light node with every rollup deployed on Astria, our developers get the best option for scalability while strengthening the security of Celestia.

What's Next?

Dusknet-2 lays the groundwork for our upcoming fully decentralized testnet slated for Q1 2024. In light of that, we are collaborating closely with rollup developers, working on bug fixes, and kicking off validator onboarding for our first cohort. This work will ensure full functionality on our network and seamless rollup launches that are decentralized by default.

Because of our unwavering dedication to letting developers just deploy, we are working on making it even easier to use Dusknet-2 for rollup deployment. Stay tuned!
